In my case, the modded Elpac power supply made only a subtle difference. But, I have two power conditioners daisy chained with good power cords (Furman Power Factor Pro -> Blue Circle Music Ring Balanced Power conditioner). Once, I got the Bolder digital mods the difference was clearly audible. I did not have to do any A/B or any measurements.I am a very cost conscious buyer (aka cheapskate :-) for eg I use a Panny XR55 receiver as the dac/amp) when it comes to spending. But I feel the $350 or so I spent on the mods for the SB is the best I have ever spent in an audio purchase.
