I've just bought the Aego M active speakers, and these really do sound
very good - better than my Sony CMT-CP505 mini 'Hi-Fi'. So I'm now
considering replacing this 'Hi-Fi' with the Aego M system - after all,
I don't need the Sony's CD player (all my CDs will soon be ripped), or
its tuner (I can use the Squeezebox, or Satellite receiver for radio),
and I never use either its cassette tape or mini-disk.

Currently I send audio from TV, DVD-R, and Satellite Rx to the Sony
external phono inputs via a 4:1 phono audio switchbox, and I send the
Squeezebox audio to the Sony via optical. The Sony allows me to switch
between analog and optical external inputs, and control volume, via a
remote control (I still have to leave my sofa to set the 4:1 audio
switchbox buttons though). I can't easily adjust the audio line output
level of TV, DVD or Sat via their own remotes.

But, if I replace the Sony Hi-Fi with the Aego active speaker system, I
lose the ability to remotely switch audio source, and volume.

I can fix the source switching by buying a 4:1 audio router with IR
control, but I still have to leave my sofa to change the voluem on the
Aego M.

So here's my question: Does anyone know of an IR remote controlled
audio router that also features gain control?

(Its a shame the Aego M doesn't come with a remote control).

TIA,
Dave.
