Thanks for your excellent report! Your findings are exactly what I have been suspecting for some time now. There isn't really any significant difference between SB3 and TP, specially when driving an external DAC (using conventional SPDIF).
Now, it would be interesting to compare a SB3 driving an external DAC via SPDIF and a TP driving a DAC using the word clock interface. Ideally, the DAC would be the same model.
