Not providing CD TEXT helps prevent ripping????
Did some of your 'enlightened' friends tell you that?
If I look at the entries in CDDB or freeDB most people don't care about
the tags, mosttimes they consist a lot of errors and they're filled in
by the people who in your idea care for tags...
Probably what happens if your ideal world would happen the following
scenario would be true:

1) you buy an album (whatever form) you can't copy at the price you
already have to pay today (payment to the music industry.

2) you want to view the album cover: you problaby must connect to a
certain service and you will have to pay for it.

3) you want to read the lyrics: see number 2.

4) you want to create a copy for your carstereo: see number 2

5) We're 2 years further and the music industry comes to the conclusion
that the current DRM isn't good enough for them:
by internet your player is being disabled: start at number 1 AGAIN...

And the only mad person here is probably you because you're jabbering
about something you don't know anything about and although it's already
explained several times you still don't have a clue and keep going on
without even reacting to given arguments.
