Well there is a performance issue right now in the firmware that is
can't quite Down Sample 24/96 Flac file that is highly compressed.
You'll get cracks and pops. They are working on a fix to optimize the
Flac decoder. So if they indeed fix this it's a sound quality
improvement in my book.

Why can't there be other more subtle bugs.

There certainly is enough bugs in Slimserver to show that things are
far from perfect.

The company that supports my digital preamp just fixed a firmware bug
that caused some bass loss due to a prior bug introduced. They fixed it
and it sounds better and it's in firmware.

Sure why can't different versions of firmware have bugs that impact
audio quality.

How often and how bad these bugs are is hard to say. But it is surely
possible.
