I haven't had a problem positioning it. It works well under the desk in a computer situation. In one bedroom, it's on a low bookshelf beneath the sats. In the other bedroom, it's under the bed with the sats high up in the corners of a canopy. I'm not sure where the crossover point is, but it blends well with the sats, and has a 3-position switch for bass level. A variable control would have been better, but I haven't had a problem finding a good setting - the lowest or middle setting works well, depending on how close to a wall you have it.
