Well no, apparently not. Look - there's no way inverting the polarity can change the SPL by 6dB unless both the signal and the speakers are extremely asymmetric. So the explanation is almost certainly that the software is not just inverting the polarity, and you can easily (well, pretty easily) check that by switching all six pairs of speaker cables.
