Actually, if you use iTunes, the Slimserver is pretty easy to use. Just tell it to use iTunes playlists. I'm not saying that this is the best way to manage your music, just that a LOT of people are comfortable with iTunes.
I think the bigger problem is that you need at least a decent music system to to take advantage of a SB.
