Agreed - provided you rip with a system that reports its performance, and ideally compares with other rips, then you know you never need to do this again. This is the case with EAC, but it is not the case with iTunes. Other software I can't comment on. This is not a dig at iTunes - it does what it does well. However, it is not intended to be a perfect ripper, even though it may achieve this on 95%+ of rips. If you are an audiophile, you probably have sufficient paranoia lurking somewhere to care about that 5% ;) David, I have commented on the Shek on this forum before, so do do a search for that. Basically I think it does improve the SB3, but it was not sufficient for my main system - I now use an SB+, and am really happy. I don't know if the problem is with the SB3 digital out or elsewhere, but I would urge caution before you spend £$£ on DACs, as I see a lot of comments from people who have DAC XYZ and are looking for something more. An SB+ or Transporter may be better in the long (and the short) run. All IMO natch :) Adam -- adamslim Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others http://www.last.fm/user/AdamSlim/ 'Last.fm group: people who don't listen to any of last.fm's top artists' (http://www.last.fm/group/People+who+don%27t+listen+to+any+of+last.fm%27s+top+artists) SB+, EAR 859, Living Voice Auditorium II plus some other stuff SB3, Shek d2, Ming-Da MC84-C, Harbeth HL-P3ES ------------------------------------------------------------------------ adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36362
