I just did some quick measurements on my old C64 power supply. This is marked with 5V 1.7A DC, and 9V 1A AC. It has a 7 pin DIN plug with pin 3 as + and pin 4 and the shield as -. On pin 3 I measured 5.2V DC and 10.1V AC with no load. I would be very careful using this on the squeezebox. Although the DC voltage is OK, the AC voltage most probably is not.
