Hey all,

I was wondering why there was a bunch of traffic to my website coming
from this thread.... ;)

I'm the guy who did the microphone calibration for muski, feel free to
ask me any questions about the calibration process. Like I told muski,
I've measured a bunch of ECM8000's over the years and they're all very
different. Part of the reason is that the Behringer (or their OEM)
periodically changes the pre-amp electronics which can have dramatic
effects - there was a thread on rec.audio.tech a few years ago where
this discussion came up. The other reason (I suspect) is that you're
not going to get the same process control in the manufacturing of a $30
mic that you're going to get in the manufacturing process of a $600 mic.
They're still great mics, but you just can't swap on ECM8000 for another
and still think you're getting the same thing.

As for muski's experience with "brightness" with the curve I generated
- that doesn't sound right. As you see in the plot at the to of the
page, your specific microphone is very sensitive in the high
frequencies. This should result in a reduction in the high frequencies
in the calibrated output as compared with the Inguz response.
