We've had a debate and your comment chimes a little with what I and some others have stated. I kicked off stating there is something missing from the SB3 sound. I experience it as a constricted soundstage, amongst other things. Perhaps you'd like to post there (seeing as you agree with me :-) ). I have an SB3 (using a linear PS) and I haven't been able to get it to sound as good as my CDT/DAC (either as player or transport into DAC).
