Back to the original topic: I did a comparison of a SB2 and Arcam CD33 ($2500) in my main system (Arcam C31 pre, P1 monoblocks, with PMC FB1+ speakers). In the end I couldn't tell the difference between the sources. This was not a scientific test, mind you, but I level matched and really couldn't hear any distinction. I sold the CD33 and ended up with a Transporter in the system, which *seemed* like a big improvement over the CD player (no direct comparison).
