I apologize if this has been answered before, but I've done a few
searches in the archives and can't find the exact answer to my
particular question.

This is the current setup for my SB3:

Wireless Router -> SB3 -> Monarchy DIP -> Monarchy NM-24 DAC -> Adcom
GFP-750 Pre-Amp -> Monarchy SM-70 Pro Monoblocks

In my computer setup, I have a sound card with a digital out that goes
to a DAC and then an integrated amp. When I use Foobar to play FLAC
files, the volume slider in Foobar doesn't regulate volume at all
because all Foobar is doing is passing the digital signal directly
through to the DAC.

I notice on the SB3, the volume controls do affect the gain of the
signal, which means that the signal is being processed in the digital
domain before being output through the rest of the digital chain.

Is there a way to bypass this? I would rather not have the SB3 process
the signal at all (including gain control). I've read in a few other
posts that most people suggest turning the SB3 volume up to max and
then using your pre-amp to control gain. This sounds like a good idea,
but the signal is still being processed by the SB3 even if it's turned
up to max.

Any suggestions or explanations would be very helpful.

Thanks.
