What's the matter, Head-Fi isn't good enough. :)  I had the AE and the
SB3 but never had them running at the same time.  I ran both the AE and
SB2 using a Bel Canto DAC2 with great results.  I also used the SB3 with
an Apogee Mini Dac, also with great results.  If this is your main
source then you may want to consider an DAC down the road.  I know that
wasn't your main question but, hey, I'm from Head-Fi why change now. 

If your computer that controls the AE is in front of you when you
listen than using the AE is not much differnent in terms of convenience
(although I do prefer using the remote myself so I would lean to the
SB3).
