I must be stupid today because the Empirical site as quoted by Veggen
says 

The Squeezebox3 application currently supports only 16-bit/44.1kHz
sample-rate, 
because this is a limitation of the Squeezebox3

Twaddle - the SB3 supports 48/24...so the Empirical site is WRONG.

IMHO (Empirical) support for 44.1/24 would be more useful than 48/24
but that's just IMHO.
