If you are going to need a phono stage in the future you ARE going to need a pre-amp. If I were you I really really wouldn't worry about having a pre-amp in the system. You have very nice speakers (which are far and away the most important part of any system) and an excellent source. You will need a good pre-amp to balance up your system. The ATC would be a good visual and system match. All this stuff about signal path is nonsense IMHO. You simply wouldn't believe what most music has gone through before you get to hear it. A high quality ($1k or above as a guide) pre-amp is NOT going to damage the signal.. any more than the line level stages in your ATC amps are doing right now... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal... ...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some very expensive cables ;o) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34484 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
