I have heard no credible discussion about lossless compression 
compromising anything. This statement makes everything that the author 
writes be suspect.

Lossless is lossless. MLP, FLAC, lossless WMA, all sound the same.
Not because I think so, but because the compressed data is restored to 
the original 16 bit PCM
