Thanks for the DAC suggestion. Given this is a system in a small apartment, I was trying t keep the total number of boxes small. For this setup, I am happy with the SB3's built-in DAC, since the AE5, fine as they seem to be for the price, are likely to be the gating factor and are driven to their best.
I have seen that entry-level headphone amps like Creek OBH-11 possess in and out RCA ports, meaning they amplify for the headphone and pass the signal through... the question being: how transparent can one expect that path to be? Over time, I may just pop up the $200 for the experiment. May be a relative fiasco making me wish I'd rather bought a bottle of Peter Michael Les Pavots; or it may prove to be a sweet and cheap way to enjoy great audio at a very reasonable price point. -- pablolie ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38317 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
