Thanks for you patience! You may have noticed that as interesting as some of the contributions (not my own) to this thread may be, no one seems to show much interest in what I wanted to know, though. I'm basically being told there can be no difference by people who have not compared the two items in described manner, all of whom support Slim Device's products with more or less severity (some - not you - barely skim-reading what I asked or had to say, constantly on the defense, using circular argumentation). Ironically, despite the apparent enthusiasm for the product, what each of them (yourself included) has to say can only lead to the conclusion that AES/EBU and WC input must have implemented into the Transporter for no apparent reason other than to to have included it, presumably so the item has greater appeal - with the question remaining unanswered, to whom and why (note no one's gone down the studio application/synchronisation of multiple units path, secretly assuming, like I do, that both Squeezebox and Transporter are pieces of consumer electronics).
