I can't vouch for Stax headphones, but I have extensive listening experience on AKG K1000 and Grado GS1000 headphones, both of which are stellar at reproducing soundstage and the acoustics of the recording venue. In fact, they're better at it than any speakers I've heard other than Magnepans and similar planar designs.
