I used to use a Statmat in my CD 12 (and Ikemi) which "seemed" to make a difference to the sound. The "rationale" was that by minimising static charge on the spinning disc surface, the transport had an easier time. Did I believe this...yes. Did it work...seemed to. Fortunately I don't have to worry about this anymore ince I only spin my discs once... Oh and can we please stop talking about Linn in this thread - it's unfair. Yes they make great gear - yes they make extremely expensive gear. Can we compare the Klimax DS to a TP or SB? - Yes. At least Linn have made a statement "squeezebox" type product. This should be good for the (highish-end) market generally. Linn were NEVER going to make a £1,000 transport of any sort. That just isn't their market anymore rightly or wrongly - (wrongly IMHO). Linn suffered years ago from building over-engineered poducts at prices that were too low - 'Bariks for example - they had to stop making them as it just wasn't cost-effective. Now they've gone too far the other way. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal... ...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some very expensive cables ;o) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39093
