Yes, he's clearly in need of a walletectomy, unless there's just a
faulty component or cable connection in the system.

Speakers make such a huge difference that they're always the first
thing in line when my wallet gets extracted for audio surgery. The
problem is, when your system starts getting pretty good, it gets REALLY
expensive to keep upgrading. My wallet runs and hides at the mere
thought of how much it would have to spend to better Sonus Faber
Cremona Auditors.

I suggest that the original poster visit Audiogon.com for some new (to
him) speakers at reasonable prices.
