Well, I want a system to access 4-5 tb of shn and flac files and play them on my stereo system. I've been looking very closely at the Transporter but a friend of mine is trying to talk me into building a media server system consisting of a pc/mac to pull the files off the server and play/organize things with the help of a software program called x-lobby. My preamp/processor is a Bryston sp2 so the DAC is already excellent. Given an expenditure about the same as the transporter I'm wondering if this home-build type system would be a better way to go because I have the Bryston sp2 already. Playing dvd files would also be possible with the homemade system I guess. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
