As far as I know the volume control in the TP is exactly the same as an SB3 (obviously the output stage is different, but the actual implementation of digital volume scaling is the same). Personally I don't think that's a bad thing - I'd much rather have the scaling done in the digital domain pre-DAC, but if you prefer analogue controls for some reason you'd have to do it downstream in the pre-amp.
