Can't say much about the cd tray sorry. I have inserted a cd only once or perhaps it was the guy from the shop. Left that cd in for the whole session and nearly forgot to take it out. As a blind person I didn't have a chance to take a look and had no need or interest either to get in touch with the tray. I was mainly using it as a substitute for a slimserver since I was interested in replacing my Marantz integrated amp with a power amp. I did listen to both units closely and well if you've got a tp you perhaps know what I mean by that slightly harsh or precise tune the tp has to it. The t+a doesn't have this analytic manner and plays softer but with good detail. Which one did I like? Well, I found myself liking the tp more since it sounded as I expected my well known tracks to sound. I listened to them all night making a collection of songs (pop, classical, sound tracks folk metal) I really knew well. As a result I wasn't utterly impressed with the t+a since it didn't want me to convince of the night and day difference it may or may not have over the tp. It just played music very transparently and with ease. As said the guy from the shop prefered the t+a slightly especially when the tp goes down in digital volume for that easiness of the t+a. But we both agreed that the tp does a good job when played a the top of it's volume scale. And actually he was somewhat impressed with SlimDevices for them having made such a good device. I think he always counted SD as a computer company and never took them serious for REAL audiophiles. Well I think that at least has changed.
I was never tempted to buy the t+a for I have slimserver and the tp and it sounds great and I wonder if the t+a has an interface as good as the tp. And I will never in my life insert a cd into a player again. So what? It is all about expectations and perhaps more important about habit of hearing and well I am prity used to my tp and happy with it. So what? Just because Linn and T+A and maybe Sony are slowly realizing that cd player will die out very quickly trying to regain market with streaming devices shall I get all crazzy about it? If you ask me the real question is: TP into power amp or SB3 with dedicated dac into power amp And the rest is ... silence. -- jaysung ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jaysung's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40119 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
