How many DVD-As do you have? Or more important, how many Multi-channel discs? I'm ripping my CDs to a server because I have a Zillion (not really but almost 16,000). This makes sense because I can never find the CD I am looking for (or at least on the day I am looking for it). I have some special records that I will always play on a turntable. There are about 100 or so DVD-A and SACD discs in my collection. They get played on a RAM OPPO DV970HD. It has pretty good video output, excellent SACD, and plays every format that I know of including DVD-A. So for less then $1300, you have your solution minus the computer and the ripping with no legal issues (under $200 for an off the shelf OPPO). It has both digital and multi-channel analog outputs and even HDMI. Again this possible solution is based on how many DVD-As one has (in other words, do they really need to be on a server). Did I mention you also get a great DVD player in the bargin? -- iPhone iPhone Last.FM http://www.lastfm.com/user/mePhone Media Room: Transporter, Vandersteen Quatro Signature, Ayre MX-R Mono Blocks, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, VCC-5 Reference Center Channel, four VSM-1 Signatures, Runco 710, RAM Oppo DV970HD, VeraStarr 6.4SE Living Room: Squeezebox 3, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold Bedroom: Squeezebox 3, Thiel 2.3, NAD C370 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39694 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
