Downsampling does not reduce the bit depth, i.e. 24-bits remain 24-bits
so you will still benefit form the fact that the Linn files are 24-bit
and not 16-bit.

Why not try an experiment by downloading a single track from Linn at CD
quality and Studio Master quality, and then downsample the master
quality version to 24/48 (or 24/44.1 depending on whether the origonal
master is 96 or 88.2) using foobar or some other tool. If you can tell
the difference buy the one you prefer else buy the cheapest!

Some experiments I tried a while ago indicated, to my ears, that 24-bit
quantisation was more important than sampling rate. What I'm saying here
is that I couldn't tell the difference between 24/96 and 24/48 where as
I could tell the difference between 16/48 and 24/48. It wasn't a
massive difference though.
