Hi,

When building my power supply I knew I had to get rid of some heat. The
power supply I used has some flat surfaces to allow it to be fixed to an
external side of the case. This was not enough. I then tried a fan which
did the trick but too noisy.

The solution was to use a case with holes for ventilation in the bottom
of the case and also either in the top edge of the sides or the top
itself. Getting an airflow going seems to be the best solution.

In conclusion I would say that unless you can guarantee very close
mechanical contact between the components and the case then make some
provision for convection and exhaust from the case.
