I admit that I'm powerless in the face of nearly any classical offer. My bank account gets a spontaneous nose bleed every week when it senses the "sale" email coming in from ArkivMusic. But in this case, I was mostly interested in trying out 24bit 96kHz content on my Transporter. Anyone know why metaflac can't add replay-gain info to 96kHz tracks? Your points about the label retaining earnings when distributing "direct" rather than through a retail distribution chain are interesting. I wonder how much Gimell gives up per order to have cctechnology.com host these downloads? That said, I think appearance of Gimell records and other small labels like it is a very positive development: classical artists asserting control over their own catalog of recordings. It's got to be better for the artists than just giving their stuff away to Naxos. What I'd really like to see, I suppose, would be a distribution clearing-house (online, retail, download) for all the hundreds of classical artists and ensembles who self-produce CDs these days. -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41261 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
