Hiya,

A few things I'm interested in understanding, I hope you are able to
help me get some sort of a grip on the subject.

Am I right in thinking the SB needs a wav to be able to output sound?

So along those lines I'm I right in thinking that if my cd ripped 16/44
Flac files are streamed to my SB2, they are converted to wav in the SB,
before playing?
(If I have the Flac Flac box ticked in File Types)

If I don't tick the Flac Flac box, and tick the Flac Wav box, the pc
actually converts to wav before streaming, and the SB just plays rather
than doing any processing?

So why can a 16/44 be converted to wav by the pc and then streamed and
played, and a 24/48 or a 24/44 when converted at the pc end plays
hissssss at the SB end, but if the SB converts it it plays okay?

Whats in the SB that is missing at the pc end, and could it be possible
to convert 24/48 at the pc end somehow?

Much appreciate any comments on the above, look forward to hopefully
understanding the ins and outs of the subject a little more.

Cheers
