Pro Tools can run at 24/192 with 12-18 tracks (or 48 tracks at 24/96)...if you need more tracks, going down to 48 is essential
Certainly in rock music you'd expect the trade off to be tracks for freq response...not really convinced that going over 44.1/48 is beneficial for most rock music...or indeed any music to be honest.
