selfdivider, No - I have not (yet) heard or tried the 840C. Very interested though. Like you, I have heard great things about it - and its ability to function as a DAC *and* a player, with balanced outs, is exactly what I personally would be looking for in a standalone player. It would be extremely functional when partnered with an SB3 too.
