Would you be so kind to reread my posts? I'm absolutely agree with you that for ethernet it does not matter, as long as the distance, etc are within the standards (TBH, I do not remember the minimum S/N ratio for the Ethernet). I'm talking about interferences the copper connection brings into the analogue part of the device. (For that reason I would not recommend using shielded Ethernet cables with audio equipment.) For example, compare "clean" ground with "polluted" ground. The "dirt" in the ground adds those extra decibels to the noise floor. Same go for the Ethernet signal which is effectively a high frequency you usually want to get rid off in the audio equipment. Good electrical shielding between the components does help, however it's not done properly in the Transporter for the obvious reason - to to keep the price down. Check the internals of the Linn Klimax DS. Every domain is divided from another with an aluminium wall. -- alekz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ alekz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13574 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42094 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
