Correct, which is why you would need to use shielded connectors for it
to have any use.  Normally the outside of the RJ45 connector has a
metal cover to allow contact with the socket.  You can see the
grounding tabs on the transporter's RJ45 socket.

You are correct, CAT* twisted pair cable is designed to be used without
shield.  It's also completely stupid to buy shielded CAT5 cable for
ethernet use.
