Correct, which is why you would need to use shielded connectors for it to have any use. Normally the outside of the RJ45 connector has a metal cover to allow contact with the socket. You can see the grounding tabs on the transporter's RJ45 socket. Example here: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product.asp?catalog_name=MCMProducts&product_id=CNRJ45/SH You are correct, CAT* twisted pair cable is designed to be used without shield. It's also completely stupid to buy shielded CAT5 cable for ethernet use. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: 05GH.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4086| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- SuperQ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SuperQ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2139 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42094 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
