I experimented with "mixing sugar" with other devices (preamps, CD-players) but the additional weight only made the things worse, it "closed" the soundstage.
In the case of the Transporter it does help to get rid of nasty resonances, to focus the images and to add "body and meat". Just experiment, it does not cost any money.
