One of the interesting comments in the article is that they only found a very few SACDs for which the noise floor was actually better than the 16 bit quantization noise from their A->D->A. On those few the difference was audible, but only on quiet parts of the track with the volume cranked (which doesn't count, as far as I'm concerned). On the rest it wasn't audible even under those circumstances. Another comment was that the SACD versions did tend to sound better than the CD releases - but evidently because of mastering differences, not resolution. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41824 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
