Given that I've used the SBC with an SB2 and a Transporter that do not
have this "rudimentary AP" behavior, no.

The SBC does communicate directly with the SBR for setup - the SBR
forms an ad-hoc network which the SBC connects with. But once the SBR
is set up, the SBC continues to connect to my wireless network as my
router shows.

An interesting question would be - what happens when the SBR is
connected by Ethernet and you don't have a wireless network? I believe
Dean has stated that the SBR would continue to act as an AP, meaning
that you wouldn't need a wireless router, but I think there may have
been some contradictory statements from others since.

Oh and the SBC is so fast it feels "native". You don't even really
think about what it's doing. It's almost as fast as the IR remote and
faster than the web UI.
