Oh I think the Aktiv Komri or Artikulat would give you some pause for
thought...

SF are good speakers.

I think the whole source/amp+speaker equation changed once digital
audio reached a certain level. I never had the flat-earth
LP12+Nad3020+Wharfedales type source first system...I went from AR/Linn
Basik/Grado signature/NVA pre/power/Tannoy Mercury Mk1's to
LP12/Ittok/Troika/LK1/LK2-85/passive Bariks - which was a hell of a
jump!

After I gave up on Vinyl (1998) I went to a Linn Karik, then Ikemi then
CD12...then to an SB1/2/3 + MF Dac. I'm now left with a source that cost
circa £2,000 in total driving a system that cost upwards of £16,000.

I certainly don't believe that a Klimax DS into a small amp and
speakers will sound anywhere near as good as an SB3 driving some
serious amps/speakers.

Garbage in - garbage out only applies when its really garbage. This
term was originally coined in computing (where it is an absolute truth)
and has been abused in hi-fi circles. An SB is not garbage compared to a
DS - or whatever - its just somewhat less good. That is greatly
outweighed by the effect of the speakers. The Ivor
T./Linn/Naim/flat-earth paradigm doesn't apply in this context IMHO.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann
JISCO/UPCI - TACT RCS 2.2X with Good Vibrations S/W - MF X-DAC
V3/X-PSU/X-10 buffer (Audiocomm full mods)- Linn 5103 - Linn Aktiv 5.1
system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend
Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables
