Once you've done that you can use the SB3 as your main source for music (IMO it's a good source) and right there you've saved the money for a decent CD player. That just leaves the movie side of things. Sounds like you have a DVD player already. With the money you saved on the CD player buy a new amp if you like. Before you do that: 1. Look at your speaker placement and room acoustics. 2. Check out the Inguz plugin for slimserver/squeezecenter. It may be that the room acoustics or speaker/room interactions are the source of the problems you're hearing. Certainly, you should make sure these are optimised before moving on to the amp. A flatter frequency response (however this is achieved) seems to unlock the sound quality potential of a system in other ways too. IMO it's the first thing to improve.
