Stampfanbach... not 100% sure but there are a couple of good stores heading roughly north from 'Central' tram stop, in Niederdorf. Dont go up the hill, but rather take the small back street running between hill and river.
If you are in the area of Stadelhofen station, then take tram 15 / or 11 to Hegibachplatz. Near there is Music and Forum. Music Hug in the Niederdorf has some nice stuff. If you can get a train to Dietlikon, then take the bus to Media Markt (most people should understand - Welche bus ist fur Media Markt bitte - pronounced 'Velke'. This is a large store of most common hi-fi brands / cds / nas / electrical goods... although not so cheap. Digitec.ch (good online site with English) also has a store / showroom in the area of Hardbrucke (tram 4). Eschenmoser used to be excellent camera / hi-fi electrical place. Got bought out a few years ago; but still has good service. It is near tram stop Stauffacher. You might need to ask directions as it is a little off the main road. Taking the tram from 'Paradeplatz' towards 'Stauffacher' and 'Albisreide' will lead you past some very posh shops, with some hi-fi components...
