Does it really make a difference what pov you hold , those that believe
have fun in their beliefs and they percieve value in their fancy capble
choices (I too use kimber D60 and orchid AES/EBU and am quite happy with
the pric I paid and the thought that im using the best so not missing
anything)
Those that dont derive satisfaction in the fact that they havent spent
what they percieve as a waste on their cables.
At the end of it all , no one camp is gonna change their outlook , you
might sway one or 2 but trying to change a non believer to a beleiver
is like trying to convert a staunch roman catholic to hinduism.
My POV is that I do beleive cables make a difference within reason , I
wouldnt spend huge bucks on cabling as I beleive that there is a point
at which it doesnt matter and you get huge diminsishing returns for the
money.
I also tweak in terms of using decent power cables , isolation etc etc
, but these are cheap... perhaps I dont get any real benefit on a
double blind listening test , but its irrelevant , It's my money to
spend as I like and tweaking is cool if its not budget blowing.
I drag race cars too , I spent a lot of money on my engines in terms of
polishing parts , braided hoses etc , none of which give me more
performance, Same with car interior/exterior , tyres and rims etc , but
I dont feel gypped at all. Its my male jewellery , just like my hifi ,
pride of ownership , bragging rights etc are all important in terms of
the satisfaction I get.
Albeit Hifi is supposed to use one sense only , hearing , the other
senses come into play , if the system looks good , it adds to enjoyment
, if you feel you using all the right stuff , it adds to enjoyment. If
you have audiophile angst about ANYTHING in the system , it will NEVER
sound good.
