I would rather not have a discussion, some people claim there is a difference, thats good, I respect that, and yes, I admit I do have a rather well respected digital cable, the late edition of Illuminati D-60, but anyway..... I will tell my own story. I started out with electrostatic hybrids in the 80´s, using cheap electricity wire. I then moved on with the same brand, Audiostatic fullrange electrostatics, a Coda 10.5 power amp and Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 Signature preamp, a very repsectable system. I was in contact with the owner of the Audiostatic factory, and asked him about recommended speaker wire. He laughed at me and told me to stop thinking about this as electrostatics sounded the same with any decent wire. I went on to buy Tara Labs Reference Gen. 1, a thick solid core that was very hard to bend. I also bought a roll of cheap Radio Schack wire, the same as Anti cables use. I bought both cables because it was mentioned in Stereophile magazine...... I heard no diffence between the two actually. Now I have Martin Logan Aeon I, but actually use a set of vintage Carlsson OA50.2 Ortho Acoustic speakers at the moment, and my basic setup is basic solid core electricity wire, 2,5 mm2 bought dirt cheap from an electrician store. The conductors look a bit like a coat hanger yes, except for the color. I simply fell off the cable wagon, and it doesnt bother me one wee bit, never think about it. Dont worry, be happy, and if you owe expensive cables I am sure you enjoy them just as much as I enjoy mine.
