Did you ever listen to an XRCD? They are mastered completely different than the original relreases. This less jitter and better bit truncating thing is most likely only marketing hype subscriping a special way of resampling and dither. This "Seven Days" mentioned above for example is pretty compressed and much louder than the original and therefore may sound completely different. Better? Don´t know. I have heard "Yim-Hok Mans, Chinese Peercussionist" XRCD against the HDCD for example and the XRCD sounds as if it was recorded from digital to tape and back. Resolution got worse but it gives you this warm fuzzy feeling :)
