Ironically the Transporter is possibly the one piece of Slim Devices kit that doesn't suffer a large markup here in the UK.
Suppose you bought one for $2000 in the US and had it shipped to the UK (and let's suppose by some miracle you actually manage to buy the dollars at a rate of 2 to the pound - good luck finding any currency dealer who will oblige). Your £1000 purchase will attract the attentions of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to the tune of 17.5%, which brings the price up to £1175. And you still haven't paid for shipping yet. I'd say the chances are that buying one in the US and getting it to the UK will cost you at least £1200. So the price from a UK dealer doesn't seem at all bad to me. Something else to consider: If it goes wrong, you don't have the UK retailing laws to assist you in getting it fixed. I know you can send it back to Slim Devices in the US, but that's going to cost you shipping and time.
