I actually like the A324 a lot. It was a nice DAC when it came out (see http://www.stereophile.com/digitalprocessors/561 for the original Stereophile review; it eventually made the Class A list of Stereophile recommended components), and still sounds very nice today.
When used with a SB3 as transport it gives you, imho, sound that is magnitudes better than the stock SB3 sound. Some adjectives I would use to describe its sound are: refined (sorry to disagree, Phil), analog-like, accurate, musical and dynamic. Compared to the best DACs I've heard, it lacks the last degree of detail, resolution and soundstaging. But it doesn't lag as far behind the great ones as you might think. IMHO, it's worth $550 and will significantly improve your SB3 experience (assuming that the rest of your system is capable of reflecting the difference). -- brillo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ brillo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1601 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47327 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
