I've owned several high-end universal players over the years but sold them off as the trickle of SACDs and DVD-As in my sweetspot dried up. I've since gone all PC for audio and have bought a Squeezbox and two Transporters... I'm happy with my current rigs, but I've always missed being able to play my small collection of high-res disks.
I just read about a new app called DVD-Audio Explorer that theoretically allows you to rip accurate 24/96 WAV files directly from DVD-As. These can then be converted to FLAC and tagged. This app could be very interesting in combination with the Transporter, which can play back the full-res lossless files. Anyone tried it? For example A:B comparison of Redbook and high-res would be quite easy. At the very least I will have access to the superior mixes on some of these disks. I'm intrigued. -- gregeas ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gregeas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5877 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47576 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
