Looking at your price points, I'd say that your opportunity for the greatest incremental improvement is with your speakers (which is usually the case in my opinion). Go to a high-end audio store and listen to the best you can afford. Persuade them to let you take a pair home for the weekend. If you're handy, you'll get much more for your money by building a quality kit design...
