Totally agree, that's why this is so odd. I read of one other person having this problem over at AVSForum. Interestingly, the problem does not occur when outputting a bitstream of DD / DTS via optical. My TP is somewhat funky when rapidly switching between the digital inputs and networked files, so it could be just a random quirk, but the person on AVS who had this problem was using a HT receiver. I also don't this is a dynamic range issue.
