In my opinion:

1. What is important is the software that you use to extract and it's
ability to control data loss. Hardware is not important : any decent
20$-drive could do the job.
2. No, there's NO loss in data streaming or storing, simply because
data are packed in protocols that don't accept ANY errors (Ethernet for
streaming, disk-controller device protocols for hard disks).
3. Once the data flow is received through the network device (Ethernet)
at the final node (TP or SB) the transformation (and loss) begins,
simply because there are NO protocols anymore : just plain
transformations. So, each components/circuitry quality  is important :
better design, more expensive components result in a better (with less
loss) digital or analog signal. Is the quality/price ration better on
TP than SB ? Is the difference worth investing for ? Only your
setup/eurs can tell.
